A developer browser, API client and uptime monitor in your pocket.
YouPIP brings the tools you reach for every day into one app: a WebKit browser with a start page built for developers, a REST API client, a website monitor and a set of offline developer utilities.
- No account needed
- No device permissions
- No ads
- Your data stays on your iPhone
Everything a developer needs on the go
YouPIP has four tabs: Browser, Monitor, API and Settings. Every feature described on this page is in the app today.
Developer browser
A WebKit browser with a start page, a favorites grid and quick access to local dev servers.
Uptime monitor
Check your websites and endpoints on an interval and see the status code and response time of each check.
REST API client
Compose requests with any common HTTP method, query parameters, headers and a raw or form body.
Dev toolbox
JSON, JWT, Base64, URL, timestamp, UUID and hash tools that work offline.
A start page that gets you to the docs faster
The Browser tab is a standard WebKit browser, the same engine as Safari. It opens on a start page with your favorite sites and the Dev Toolbox instead of a search engine.
- Favorites grid: add, edit, delete and drag to reorder your favorite sites, and pick a tile color. Site icons are downloaded from the site itself.
- Local dev servers:
localhost:3000,.localand LAN IP addresses open over plain HTTP, without a search detour. - Change User-Agent: view a page as Safari on iOS (default), desktop Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari on macOS, Chrome on Android, Samsung Internet, or a custom string.
- Page actions: add to favorites, share, copy URL, add the page to the uptime monitor, and clear cache, cookies and website data.
WHAT YOU CAN TYPE
| Type | Opens |
|---|---|
github.com | https://github.com |
localhost:3000 | http://localhost:3000 |
192.168.1.20:8080 | Your LAN dev server over HTTP |
myapp.local | http://myapp.local |
https://api.example.com/v1 | Exactly as typed |
swift async await | A Google search |
Addresses open directly. Anything that doesn't look like an address is searched on Google.
Keep an eye on your sites and endpoints
Add a website or API endpoint with a name, URL, HTTP method (HEAD, GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH or OPTIONS) and a check interval of 10 seconds or more.
- See each monitor's status code and response time. A monitor is shown as active when it returns HTTP 200.
- Run a check at any time with Check Now or pull to refresh.
- Checks run on your iPhone while the Monitor screen is open. There is no background monitoring and no push or email alerts.
- Optional cloud sync: back up your monitor list and restore it, or delete the backup, from the Cloud Sync menu.
Test REST endpoints from anywhere
Build a request, send it directly from your device to the server, and inspect the response.
- GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH, HEAD and OPTIONS.
- Query parameters and request headers as key–value pairs, including authorization headers.
- Request body as raw text, JSON, XML or HTML, or as form data.
- Save requests to a history on your device and restore them later. You can delete one request or clear the whole history.
Seven everyday utilities, all offline
Open them from the start page of the Browser tab. Everything runs on your device, and nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
JSON
Pretty-print, sort keys, minify and validate, with clear error messages.
JWT
Decode the header and payload and show issued, not-before and expiry times. The signature is not verified.
Base64
Encode and decode text, including URL-safe Base64 without padding.
URL
Percent-encode, decode, or break a URL into scheme, host, path and query items.
Timestamp
Convert Unix time (seconds or milliseconds) to and from ISO 8601 and local dates.
UUID
Generate up to 100 version 4 UUIDs in upper or lower case.
Hash
SHA-256, SHA-512, SHA-1 and MD5 digests of any text.
Questions, answered
Does YouPIP monitor my websites in the background or send alerts?
No. Checks run on your iPhone while the Monitor screen is open and stop when you leave it. YouPIP doesn't send push notifications or emails.
Do I need an account?
No. YouPIP works without any sign-up. Cloud Sync uses a random identifier created on your device instead of an account.
Where are my monitors, API requests and favorites stored?
On your iPhone. Only your monitor list leaves the device, and only when you use Cloud Sync. Saved API requests, which can contain tokens or other secrets, are never uploaded.
Does the browser keep a history or read my cookies?
YouPIP doesn't keep a browsing history. Cookies and website data are stored on your device by WebKit, as in any browser, and are never sent to us. You can remove them with Clear Data in the browser menu.
Is YouPIP affiliated with GitHub, Stack Overflow, Google or the other sites it links to?
No. The starter favorites are plain links to those public websites, and searches go to Google. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners.
